

If you're not trading them away in the next few weeks, you might want to hold off until Rebel Crash hits once it gets close, Sword & Shield packs will likely drop in value, though the set shouldn't take too big of a hit.

I haven't been trading lately, so feel free to ask around for confirmed, current values. We're just barely far enough out from the next set (Rebel Crash) that buying Redemption Codes (or actual packs) of Sword & Shield should give you good packs for trading. Rarely, a pack is in high demand and worth more than 1 it is quite common for older packs that also don't contain anything too valuable to be worth 0.5 to 0.2 packs. So if a card you want is going for five packs, that means five packs with a trade ratio of 1. Card values are often discussed in terms of a generic pack, and specific pack values are then expressed as fractions of that pack.

Pack values do vary, both from pack to pack, and over time. If you just want to "buy" cards for your deck, the trick is having plenty of booster packs - preferably the in-demand ones - to trade. You can open your packs if you want, but finding someone to trade for all (sometimes any) of the cards you pulled can take a lot of time. Tradeable booster packs are the true currency of the PTCGO. As you seem new to the PTCGO, I wanted to add a few things:
